Echeveria are popular succulent plants for use in planters, or as a houseplant. They have an attractive rosette-style growth pattern of thick, bright leaves. They come in a variety of colours. Greens, blues, purples, and combinations of can be found in the tropical section of most greenhouses! Most types of Echeveria reach approximately 6"W x 4"H (per plant).
Care
These plants do best in conditions that most plants would dislike. They require infrequent watering, little to no fertilizing, and don't require much maintenance. If watered too frequently and/or not provided intense light these plants will "stretch" and grow taller as opposed to wider.
Blooms
Echeveria bloom on a unique looking flower spike, a cluster of orange-yellow flowers appear. This plant is primarily grown for its foliage appearance, though.
Propagation
Echeveria can be grown from seed, however this is a lengthy process. They do produce pups which can be separated as their own plant when they are at lest one-quarter of the size of the mother plant. Leaves can be broken off and kept on moist soil where a new plant will start to grow from the broken leaf.
